MIXING traditional folk and jazz influences, Red Hippo promise an entertaining evening or all at The Courtyard next week.
Red Hippo use a mixture of sousaphone, Irish whistles, saxophones and strings to explore a musical world of traditional folk and jazz influenced arrangements.
Coming from previous incarnations in jazz, ska and folk bands the three musicians who are Red Hippo create an exciting clash of sound that appeals across the board. Their style means they are not restricted by genre and have appeared at folk, world and jazz festivals.
They’ve successfully integrated a mélange of styles and they’re masters of all: folk/roots, jazz and steam hammer, bass-heavy brass delivered via a thumping, rhythmic sousaphone.
Young people aged 14-25 can get 10 per cent off Red Hippo with The Courtyard Card, which is free to sign up for and offers deals on live shows, £3 film tickets and discounts at The Courtyard Café Bar!
Red Hippo will be at The Courtyard on Thursday, June 11 at 8pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
