AMERICAN folk singer Jeff Warner brings his own traditional brand of American to Canon Frome Court near Ledbury as part of a rare UK tour.
Jeff Warner represents an American folk tradition that is fundamentally unbroken since pre-industrial times - he grew up listening to the songs and stories of his father Frank Warner and the traditional singers his parents met during their folk-song collecting trips through rural America. Now a compelling and entertaining musician himself, Jeff plays concertina, banjo, guitar and several 'pocket' instruments (including bones and spoons) to accompany the songs he sings, which are drawn from the lumber camps, fishing villages and mountains of the USA.
Bands from Herefordshire’s own local folk scene will provide support for this show. In a rare public performance, Alula Down will open the evening with a short set of songs about change and passing. They will be followed by the “sleazy-listening-meets-riot-cow-epicness” of Vaginapocalypse. The affectionately known VagPox draw Herefordshire’s brand of rural folk-punk, and their close harmonies and rapid fire lyrics are gaining them a devoted following around the county.
