DANCEFEST, the dance development organisation for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, is giving dancers the opportunity to work with inspiring and groundbreaking dancer and choreographer Mickael Marso Riviere at their base at The Angel Centre, Angel Place, Worcester on Tuesday.

Born in France, Mickael is also known as B-boy Marso and has been based in the UK for over 12 years, establishing himself as a major force in both the contemporary dance and B-boy dance worlds.

In 2005 he formed his own company, Company Decalage, and he is an associate artist at DanceXchange in Birmingham. His work is rooted in breakdance, alongside many other styles including ballet, modern dance, capoeira, circus and street dance. In 2006 he was nominated for the prestigious Place Prize and was a finalist in 2008. He’s worked with artists as diverse as The Bolshoi Ballet and hip hop theatre artist Jonzi D, presented work at The BBC Proms and created work for the Queen's Jubilee and the Commonwealth Games.

There are two workshops: contemporary and hip hop fusion from 10am to 12 noon, for 14-21 year olds, is an ideal opportunity for young dancers of all styles to extend and develop their skills, be creative and have fun. Dancers will use improvisation skills as well as learning choreography, including fast-paced floor work, lifts, kicks, spins and bends.

Contemporary/urban mix from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, is for dancers aged 21+ and is ideal for experienced dancers and teachers. It uses Marso’s highly physical, signature style of breaking, capoeira, martial arts and contemporary, with repertoire from Company Decalage productions.
