IN the past few years, families all over the region have happily danced to the engaging, exciting and high- energy music played by the Herefordshire People’s
band, Bandemonium.
Songs, tunes and dances from all over the world, from the highlands of Scotland to the Appalachian mountains, raunchy Cajun dances from the Louisiana swamps, lilting airs from Ireland, mysterious melodies from Eastern Europe, wild waltzes from Mexico, catchy songs and tunes from Africa, have accompanied familiar ceilidh and country dances, circle dance, line dance, waltzes, and just jigging about on your own.
Last year alone, parents and children in Tenbury, Weobley, Talybont, Madley, Ludlow, Garway and Pencombe, amongst others, danced their socks off – and then invited Bandemoniu back for the next celebration.
On Saturday, February 14, to help raise funds for the second Hereford River Carnival, there's a chance to get a flavour of this genuinely unique combo at Hereford's Green Dragon Hotel.
Tickets for the Valentine's Ceilidh with Bandemonium are available from the Outback, Church Street; or from leader Rob Strawson at
The Music Pool on 01432 278118.
