THE Saturday Café, the popular series of informal lunchtime music gigs at The Courtyard, is back this weekend after its winter break.

The new line-up kicks off on Saturday, with the welcome return of the Rod Kelly Trio, playing top-notch jazz and blues featuring Rod on piano amd vocals, Wayne Elliott (bass) and Roger Powell (drums).

Saturday, February 14 brings an appearance from the popular local trad-based outfit Cider City Jazz, renowned for their popular tunes and cheery banter.

Then, on Saturday, February 28, it’s the turn of the Jackhammer Blues Band - a fine selection of acoustic blues and roots from Dave Dench (guitars/vocals), Steve Baker (percussion/banjo/washboard) and Mark Hemming (guitars/mandolin) featuring songs by Blind Blake, Sleepy John Estes, Yank Rachell, Tampa Red, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and many more.

Set to continue through into the summer, The Saturday Café is promoted by the Music Pool in partnership with the Courtyard, with support from Herefordshire Council. All sessions run from 12 noon to 2.00pm and admission is free.
