EVE Loiseau’s extraordinary tribute to Edith Piaf comes to The Courtyard on Friday, February 6.

Edith Piaf has become synonymous with French cabaret of the 1940s and 50s and remains France’s most popular singer. From her dramatic rise from Paris street urchin to star of international renown, Piaf's life was the stuff of legend, but it was anything but ‘La vie en rose’.

Eve Loiseau’s passion for Piaf developed at a young age, around the dining table in South East France. Her lustrous French tone captures the essence of the Piaf performance in this tribute to the ‘Little Sparrow’.

In the centenary year of Piaf’s birth, this powerful celebration comes from a company whose credentials include Kneehigh Theatre and Canteve Vocal and which features Fiona Barrow on violin and Murray Grainger on accordion.

The film La Vie En Rose (12A) will also be at The Courtyard on Friday 16 and Tuesday, January 20, documenting the extraordinary, tragic life of Edith Piaf, starring Marion Cotillard, winner of Best Actress Oscar in 2008.

Piaf the Songs will be at The Courtyard on Friday, February 6 at 7.30pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
