ON Saturday, December 13, Music in New Radnor presents The Mellstock Band's new Christmas touring programme, The Christmas Hearth.
The Mellstock Band’s renowned costumed performances of hearty harmonies, soulful solos and exuberant instrumentals bring the village band sound of fiddle, oboe, clarinet, concertina and serpent to glorious life. The music is linked by carefully selected readings from Hardy, Dickens, John Clare, George Elliott and others, telling the story of Christmas celebrations in 19th-century England.
"We could not resist this programme from the Mellstock Band. They revisit Music in New Radnor every few years and always bring something new and fresh to the music they love. Their concerts are rousing, tuneful, joyful and moving in equal parts," says Mary Tolhurst of Music in New Radnor.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30 start. Tickets are available in advance from 01544 350268.
