RISING star of the British folk revival Sharron Kraus will be making two visits to Herefordshire over the coming weeks.
On Friday, November 28, she will be performing as part of a “psych folk” double header with Herefordshire’s own Sproatly Smith. The music of both artists draws upon traditional English folk song, but presents it in a way that suggests gothic myth and magick, bucolic folklore and the psychedelia of early Pink Floyd. Expect a complex and beautiful alchemy of sounds from these two celebrated artists. he gig takes place at Hinton Community Centre on Ross Road, Hereford. Tickets available on the door.
And on Wednesday, December 10, Sharron returns to Herefordshire to play a collection of Winter Songs with harpist Harriet Earis. This intimate evening will showcase an ancient wintry soundscape of seasonal, evocative songs. With mulled wine and mince pies, a roaring fire and good company, the event takes place in one of the old school rooms at Canon Frome Court near Ledbury. Herefordshire’s Heed the Thunder will be providing support, playing folk songs “of depth, gothic wonder and mysticism”, along with local legend Mark Stevenson - folk singer, poet, bodhran and whistle player. Tickets available on the door.
