KINGTON and District Operatic Society (KADOS) presents its latest Gilbert and Sullivan production, The Gondoliers, next week at Lady Hawkins Community Centre.
The story begins at The Piazetta in Venice in 1750. Marco (David Hippard) and Giuseppe (Mark Beaton) are two very handsome and very eligible gondoliers with idealistic principles on Republican government. The pair marry peasant girls, Gianetta (Dilys Hollinghurst) and Tessa (Eloise King) and are set for a life of blissful happiness. However, it transpires that one of the gondoliers, (nobody knows which one), is actually a king and has already been married, in infancy, to another, which means one of the young gondoliers is a bigamist!! Plans are set in motion to sort out the conundrum and it all ends happily in the end. Beautiful ballads such as 'Take A Pair of Sparkling Eyes' and the wonderfully exciting 'Dance A Cachucha' (clapping and dancing in the aisles allowed) are sure to enhance an evening of fun and enjoyment.
The Gondoliers will be at Lady Hawkins Community Centre from Thursday, October 30 to Saturday, November 1. Tickets are available from Tom Bounds Electrical, 32 High Street, Kington. To check availability or to book, pop in or call 01544 231303 (daytime) or 01544 231501 (evening)
