In the 1950s, a new phenomenon, rock and roll, came blasting through the American airwaves, across the Atlantic and into Britain's homes.
The likes of legends such as Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Eddie Cochran, and of course, the king himself, Elvis would soon be entertaining millions all over the world with their unique style of music. Rock 'n' roll Heaven is a collection of the genre's all-time greats and will give audiences a chance to experience two unparalleled hours of the golden era’s musical legacy, with local boy Edward Handoll starring as Buddy Holly and Ricky Nelson.
Edward last came to Malvern in 2008 to sell-out audiences, starring in the show ‘Buddy’, a role he recreated with the original producers, which went on tour in the UK and Scandinavia and then to the Duchess Theatre, London.
Edward, who last came to Malvern in 2008 starring in Buddy, was born in Hereford and is a former Hereford Cathedral School student.
A non-stop parade of hits will feature Del Shannon’s legendary recordings of Runaway, Hats Off To Larry, Swiss Maid, So Long Baby, Keep Searchin’ and many many more million sellers. Ricky Nelson, the only real contender for Elvis’s throne in America, will be represented by his all-time greats like Poor Little Fool, It’s Late, Fools Rush In, Hello Mary-Lou, Travelling Man and Garden Party. Eddie Cochran’s pure and raunchy rock ‘n’ roll anthems include Three Steps To Heaven, Something Else, Weekend and Come On Everybody.
Rock 'n' Roll Heaven is at Malvern Theatres from Tuesday to Saturday, August 30. To book, call the box office on 01684 892277 or visit malvern-theatres.co.uk
