AN exciting drumming workshop will be led by James Barrow who specialises in leading high-energy, hands-on Taiko Drumming.
Taiko is an ancient Japanese form of percussion using large drums - the most common drum size in taiko is the "chu-daiko" which is the size of a wine barrel. James is based in Shropshire and has been teaching Taiko for over 20 years, sharing his enthusiasm and honouring the traditions that underpin Taiko drumming as well as developing new musical directions.
The workshop will include plenty of drumming, with warm-up exercises, an introduction to basic techniques, simple musical exercises and the opportunity to learn traditional or modern Taiko “songs”.
Aimed at adults and teenagers, the workshop aims to inspire those taking part with the energy, exhilaration and joy of Taiko Drumming.
