THE church of St Lawrence, Weston-under-Penyard welcomes celebrated cellist Orlando Jopling on Sunday, June 22, with a concert of Bach concertos.

Orlando is musical director of the 140-year-old Royal Orchestral Society in London and artistic director of the Roman River Festival in Essex. He has conducted in Vienna, Cyprus and Norway, and in London works with the English Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Irish Chamber Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra among many others. He has conducted more than 25 opera productions, and co-founded Stanley Hall Opera and the contemporary opera specialist Tête à Tête.

Reverend Neil Patterson, Rector of St Lawrence’s, said, “We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming someone of Orlando’s stature and renown to Weston-under-Penyard. St. Lawrence’s is a beautiful church and the perfect setting for something so special”.
