RELIVE the golden age of the big bands with The Hereford Big Band Swing and Dance at Lyde Court next weekend, when music from the 1940s and 1950s, featuring well-loved standards, classic arrangements and original compositions will be on the menu.
The Hereford Big Band is a full sized swing band, incorporating a full complement of trumpets, trombones, saxophones, a complete rhythm section and male and female vocalists, and plays a wide repertoire of arrangements from the Big Band and Swing era, including music by Glenn Miller, Ted Heath, Count Basie and Duke Ellington, as well as contemporary artists such as Jools Holland, Brian Setzer and The Phil Collins Big Band.
The vocalists add material drawn from the libraries of Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan and The Rat Pack, as well as modern performers such as Michael Buble, Jamie Cullum and Harry Connick Jr.
