THE Hereford String Orchestra will be giving its Spring Concert on Saturday at 7.30pm in the Shire Hall.
The programme will, with the exception of the soloist, be exclusively for strings, with the orchestra performing some well-known string pieces, including Tchaikovksy's Serenade.
The evening's highlight will be the Concerto for Clarinet and String Orchestra by Gerald Finzi, in which the soloist will be the distinguished clarinettist Nicholas Shipman. The orchestra will be conducted by Thomas Payne with regular leader Christine Lenton.
Tickets available from The Outback or on the door.
Regular supporters will be sad to learn of the deaths of two of the orchestra's long term members, David Pope, former chairman and Diana Stallard, who played in the earliest of the orchestra's concerts.
