THE passion and colour of Spanish flamenco dance comes to Glasbury with a stunning performance by Alejandra Velasco with her dance and music friends.

Alejandra was born and brought up in Madrid, the youngest of nine girls in a family in which flamenco and “copla” formed part of the landscape of her childhood.

I think my love of flamenco emerged from the ambience that surrounded me and I suppose from my genes because my mother and my aunt were Spanish dancers as well, a very complete genre covering all art forms: flamenco, Spanish classical, Spanish folk, Bolero school, ballet.

She started teaching in Spain when she was 16 and in the UK she has worked as a teacher, choreographer and dancer.

A one-hour taster workshop ahead of her performance has already sold out but tickets for the performance at the Drama Studio, Gwernyfed High School on Saturday, February 22 at 7.30pm,are available by calling the box office on 01497 847426, online at glasburyarts.co.uk or in person from Old Forest Arts in Hay-on-Wye.
