THE programme for a concert, Music for Troubled Times, in St Michael’s Church, Michaelchurch Escley, on Saturday includes works by Thomas Tomkins, Henry and William Lawes and John Jenkins, as well as the Byrd, Purcell, Bach and Handel.
Music written for countertenor and soprano, harpsichord and viols will take listeners back to the life and times of the 16th and 17th centuries, creating emotions that resonate with today’s ‘troubled times’, the music highlighted with poetry interspersed throughout.
Countertenor Toby Gee and soprano Antonia Cviic will be joined by a consort of viols led by Gillian Stevens with harpsichordist Yeo Yat-Soon and speaker Moragh Gee.
The concert starts at 7.30pm. For details, call 01981 510332 or visit concertsforcraswall.org.
