Saturday Cafe returns to The Courtyard

THE Saturday Café, the popular series of informal lunchtime music gigs at The Courtyard, will be back next week after its winter break.

This year’s line-up kicks off on Saturday, February 4, with the first appearance in the café of the Kim Cypher Quartet.

Featuring Kim on sax and vocals, along with David Smeaton (guitar), Neil Humphris (bass) and Mike Cypher (drums), they play a varied mix of jazz standards and favourite songs, with their own individual twist.

The following week sees a return appearance from the Rod Kelly Trio, featuring the great jazz piano and vocals of Rod, plus Wayne Elliott (bass) and Roger Powell (drums), and the last Saturday in February features a jazz session from the Lee Jones Trio. Lee is a superb young jazz guitarist, quickly building up an impressive reputation, and he appears along with Geoff Ockenden (bass) and Andy Edwards (drums).

The Saturday Café is promoted by the Music Pool in partnership with The Courtyard, with financial support from H e r e f o r d s h i r e Council. All sessions run from noon to 2pm and admission is free
