FOLLOWING the success of Tidal Wave Gallery’s h.Art exhibition, which featured paintings of the north Wales coast and mountains, owner Steve Davies is holding a Christmas exhibition entitled Three Artists from Wales, featuring artists with a love of the north Wales landscape.
The first is David Barnes, the h.Art artist for Steve’s September exhibition. Painting in oils with a palette knife, David paints bold pictures ranging from the sombre colours of Snowdonia to the brighter tones of the sea and beaches around the north Wales and Anglesey coastline.
Vivienne Luxton studied painting at St Martin’s School of Art, and has exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy. She uses bold, bright colours, painting in acrylic. Her subjects range from land and seascapes (like Tenby Harbour, above) to humorous human interest subjects.
Meryl Watts (1910-1992) moved to north Wales in 1948 where she painted land and seascapes. Her style was wistful, surreal and with strong Cubist overtones and she exhibited at the RA and with the British Council.
On Saturday, from 2pm to 4pm, David will be talking about his painting technique, giving a demonstration and inviting people to have a go.
To book a place, call Liz Pitman on 07766 752665 or e-mail e.h.pitman@btinternet.com The exhibition will be open daily (except Sundays) until Saturday, December 20, from 10am to 5pm.
