Singing in different languages is quite normal for The Britten Singers but singing in five languages in one concert is certainly a challenge for the choir in their latest concert.

Pamela White, the choir's founder and director, has planned a programme with music from around the world so there will be choral music from Europe, America, South America and Africa. Composers to be featured will be Schubert, Debussy,Grieg,Monteverdi as well as Britten with his Hymn to St. Cecilia. The lighter side of their repertoire will include arrangements of music by Piazzolla and Gershwin. There will be instrumental music played by Joris Boon, 'cello, with Andrew Morris, piano and they will be playing two sets of variations by Beethoven.

All proceeds from the concert will go to the Megan Baker House Charity and tickets are £10 on the door. Any further information may be obtained from 01432 269818.

The Britten Singers will be in concert at All Saints Church on Friday, April 27 at 7.30pm.
