Hereford Police Male Choir will be staging a special Diamond Jubilee concert in Hereford Cathedral where it all started 60 years ago with a dozen bobbies singing at an event marking the centenary of the old Herefordshire Constabulary. Today the 60 strong choir is open to men from all walks of life and is currently rehearsing for the Festival of Male Voice Choirs in the Royal Albert Hall next year.

Joining them on Saturday, October 28 (7-30pm) are Shrewsbury Police Male Voice Choir and Brecon Male Choir jointly performing many of the classics of male voice choral singing in a stunning musical environment.

Guest soloists are baritone Stephen John Davis, famous for his starring roles in West End musicals, including the lead in Phantom of The Opera and in Les Miserables and soprano Emily Rooke, winner of the 2017 Hereford Police Male Choir’s Young Musicians £1,000 Bursary who lives near Leominster and is studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music in Cardiff.

The celebration concert is dedicated to Brian Williams, a choir founder and secretary for virtually all of the choir’s 60 years who died recently.

Tickets for the concert, expected to be a sell-out, are available from Off The Wall gift shop in St Peter’s Street, Hereford, the Cathedral Shop and from Jim Jenkins on 07766 145460.
