The Britten Singers, who have just celebrated their 42nd anniversary with their founder/director, Pamela White, will be performing their Spring concert celebrating British music on Saturday, April 8 at All Saints Church.
The wide ranging programme will begin with some pieces by Byrd and Purcell, followed by groups of songs by Stanford, Elgar and Vaughan Williams, leading on to music by great composers of the 20th century, such as Delius, Britten and Finzi. Two of four commissioned pieces for The Britten Singers, one by the late John Sanders, the other by Richard Lloyd, a former organist of Hereford Cathedral, will also be included. Their soloist will be clarinettist, Rebecca Griffiths, with pianist Rhiannon Davies.
Admission to the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, is free, but there will be a collection in aid of the Acorns Children's Hospice.
