MAX Boyce has been entertaining people all over the world for more than 30 years with his ability to paint pictures in word and song, and he'll be at The Courtyard on Friday, February 3.

In November 1973, Max Boyce recorded the album Live at Treorchy Rugby Club, little knowing that it would change his life.

Having already recorded some of his earlier songs at the Valley Folk Club in Pontardawe, when EMI heard the album and subsequently saw Max perform live in concert, he was invited to sign a contract to record two live albums of his songs and stories.

With almost no rehearsal, the songs and stories were recorded. The audience, apart from a few close friends, were given the tickets after they failed to sell at 50p each. Max at the time was virtually unknown, and he had deliberately chosen to perform to an audience that was unfamiliar with his work to ensure the reaction was spontaneous and real.

Max’s live performances need no introduction; the audience reactions and standing ovations speak for themselves. A huge new young audience has also recently discovered this exceptional entertainer, taking him to their hearts and making him a true modern day folk hero.

Max Boyce will be at The Courtyard on Friday, February 3 at 7.30pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
