ONE of the star attractions of the newly branded Allpay Flavours of Herefordshire Food Festival on October 27 and 28, is certain to be Mary Berry of the BBC’s hugely popular Great British Bake-off.

Mary is one of a number of famous foodie names presenting events at the festival.

Also on the line up are Tony Tobin (Ready, Steady, Cook), Xanthe Clay (Daily Telegraph) and Katy Ashworth (of CBeebies). These events will be ticketed and paid for.

For the first time the annual food festival is being held across the city centre with attractions in High Town, on Cathedral Close and on Castle Green (Saturday only), and the weekend will feature a tasty variety of challenge cookoffs, talks, tastings, entertainment and more than 120 local producers showcasing the very best of great local produce to try and buy.

There’ll also be a Food Pavilion, a large farmers’ market, Challenge Theatres, the Shirehall Celebrity Theatre and a Talks and Tastings Theatre.

On Saturday, there’ll also be plenty for children to do in the tented village on Castle Green, with a range of free foodrelated craft activities and storytelling between from 11.30am to 5pm, live music and activities for older kids. A lantern procession will take place at 5pm, taking visitors from the Green to Cathedral Close and the Green will become the site of a mini music festival until 9pm.

Free festival programmes are available at venues across the city, including the Visit Herefordshire centre, cathedral and Town Hall, or visit flavoursofherefordshire.co.uk.
