12:20pm Thursday 1st December 2011 in Food & Drink
FOOD and the festive season are inextricably linked, so what better to celebrate and inspire at Christmas than Abergavenny Food Festival’s Christmas fair on December 11.
Whatever your culinary tastes the fair has it covered – the rare, the exotic, the innovative, the traditional – as well as inspirational masterclasses, tutored tastings and demonstrations. Choose from Elisabeth Luard demonstrating why baking is an essential part of her Christmas preparations, Arun Kapil offering advice on how to Spice up your Christmas, or Maria Elia’s masterclass in creative cooking.
As Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without chocolate, there’s also an introduction to the art of making hand-made chocolates from Crickhowell chocolatier Jules James, and Turkey, rather than turkey, provides the inspiration for a masterclass from Freddy Bird and Charlie Hicks. A masterclass from Stephen Terry and Chris Gould of The Hardwick will help the day after as they offer inspired ideas for Boxing Day brunch.
Tickets to the fair are £3.50, free entry to under-16s, available at abergavennyfoodfestival.com.
Tickets to the tutored tastings and masterclasses are £5, also bookable online.
