BORDERLINES Film Festival opens tomorrow (Friday) and brings the delightfully compact Sol Cinema to High Town on Wednesday.
The micro solar-powered cinema has been converted from a 1960s two-berth caravan to provide viewing facilities for up to eight people at a time. The mobile cinema is the brainchild of Undercurrents, an award-winning Swansea film and video production company.
Helen Iles, winner of the Digital Hero Wales 2009 award, is bringing the caravan to Borderlines for two workshops with sixth-formers in Powys but the Sol also gets a day in the limelight in High Town where people can drop in for a ten-minute programme of short films.
Helen is also one of the panellists in Here Comes Everyone:) Citizen Journalism in the Digital Age on the same day, which will ask whether, with Twitter and mobile phone technology, everyone now has a voice to express their own opinions, and whether traditional media outlets are redundant. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555.
