JADE Corrick remembers exactly when she first wanted to become an actor.

“I was five years old and I asked my mum how people got on the TV and she told me they were actors, not real people,” she explained.

That initial interest led to an involvement with acting that has seen Jade attending classes in drama, singing and dance while at school before going on to Hereford College of Arts for a degree course in performing arts.

Jade is currently on an enforced gap year as the final year of the course at HCA has been cancelled and so she is in the process of applying to complete her last year elsewhere.

In 2008, Jade starred in a short film, shown at last year's Borderlines Film Festival, and directed by David G Jones, a fellow student at HCA.

The film, about a young girl who attempts suicide only to be given another shot at life by the intervention of a mysterious figure, was well received.

Jade is currently filming a new piece with David, called Farises, which is being made to be shown in the county’s schools.

Jade, who went to Kingstone High School, plays both good fairy and bad fairy in the piece, which is being shot in a trio of Herefordshire locations and may be seen at the 2010 Borderlines festival.

In addition to filming, Jade is also busy setting up a new company, Engage in Drama, with Jon Stacey.

It will be a company aimed at young people and teenagers which will use creativity as an exciting complement to learning.

Jade and Jon plan to offer local schools the opportunity to choose subjects as the basis for a performance that will both support and enhance learning.

Jon, like Jade, has been acting for many years, most recently in Hereford Musical Theatre Company’s The Full Monty, seen at The Courtyard last autumn
