“DJing in my birth city on Friday, Hereford, at the Jailhouse!” And Hereford’s dubstep fans clearly shared Jakwob’s excitement on Friday night. Having recently released his new single “Electrify” the buzz around the unique DJ is quickly growing - in true Jailhouse fashion – think Nero and Chase & Status - Jakwob was booked for the venue just as he’s predicted to explode in the industry, and he did nothing to contradict these tip-offs from the likes of Zane Lowe.
The set he played was focused and tight. The density of people in the room is always telling of how well the DJ’s doing, and on Friday night there was no shying away in a corner, the room was full and everybody was moving.
Keeping the Hereford connection alive, his remixes of the city’s own Ellie Goulding’s Starry Eyed – another of Zane Lowe’s hottest records in the world - and Under the Sheets put him in the good books of Herefordians who were given a set where the tracks only dropped in the right places.
Jakwob’s set offered convincing proof that he’s on the road to success, and Friday night’s Jailhouse crowd are the lucky ones that can say they were there just before he caught the wave.
