FOLK-rock duo Bruise are returning to The Globe at Hay tomorrow, Friday. Jim Kimberley is a top flight session drummer whose recording credits include Mark Knopfler, Nick Heyward, Paul Young and Nick Harper while Isobel Morris’s reputation as a co-writer is impeccable. Her original songs have a life of their own on the folk circuit (her lyrics are taught in schools) and she is involved with silent film soundtrack touring company ‘The Southwell Collective’.
Tomorrow they will bring their astonishing folk rock two piece to The Globe. With Isobel’s exquisite voice and idiosyncratic open tunings and Jim Kimberley’s world class drumming, the combination is genuinely moving.
Over the last 10 years Bruise have carved out a career covering three continents and three albums. Remaining aloof from music industry approaches they have focused on playing and developing their unique sound with refreshing results. The husband and wife team have been recommended by BBC 6 Music and made repeat appearances at Glastonbury and major British and European festivals and supporting acts from veteran rockers Hawkwind to the internationally acclaimed songwriter Benny Gallagher.
Bruise are at The Globe at Hay tomorrow, 8pm. To book, call 01497 821762 or go to globeathay.org
