Help to bring King Merewald to life at Priory

CAST members are wanted to help bring the 11th century legend of King Merewald to life at Leominster’s ancient Priory Church.

Those interested will help depict the tale of a lone Celtic teacher who meets a warrior Saxon King with nightmares.

Parts on offer range from saints to soldiers, kings, lions and hellhounds ahead of a performance on October 23.

Scenes will also be punctuated with plain-chanting monks from the eight daily Benedictine offices to remind audiences of the centuries during which Edfrith’s feast day and fair were a high point in Leominster’s year.

Thursday night rehearsals begin on September 16 at 7.30pm.
