A TORCHLIT dance spectacle in Hereford is one of two West Midlands projects chosen from the latest round of commissions for People Dancing, part of the West Midlands’ Culture Programme for London 2012.

Led by Herefordshire-based dance company, 2Faced Dance, hr1 is a programme that brings together professional dancers and members of the public from across Herefordshire through a series of events and workshops.

As well as five new dance works and the formation of six new community dance companies across rural Herefordshire, the project will culminate in a largescale torchlit dance spectacle involving local people and professional dancers in Herefordshire in the summer of 2012.

The project will run over the next two and a half years and involve hundreds of local people, who will be given the opportunity to try their hand at dance, working with professional choreographers, dancers, musicians and designers.

2Faced Dance is led by artistic director, Tamsin Fitzgerald, who is also an associate artist at Birmingham’s dance house, DanceXchange.
