GEORGINA Fowler, currently a third year BA (Hons) contemporary applied arts student at Hereford College of Arts, recently donated three of her distinctive vessels to the Myotubular Trust for an auction at The House of Commons, where they raised £500 for the charity.
Her work can currently be seen closer to home at the Tidal Wave Gallery in Bridge Street.
“I design and create my shapes by working from paper models and then use the slip-casting technique to create the form,” says Georgina, who has a recessive form of myotubular myopathy, a rare and profound muscle disease.
“Function is not the driver of my design process. I want to create decorative vessels that can be used as functional items.”
Tidal Wave Gallery is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
