NEXT weekend sees a second dynamic Art Festival at the Globe at Hay.

The Art Festival at Hay is contributing to the mixed and dynamic arts programme offered in Hay throughout the year and is a heady mix of talks and debates, exhibition and performance, parties and dancing.

This year, talks will focus on art in an ephemeral age. Ephemeral art is everywhere, from graffiti to the Trafalgar Square plinth, from wrapped buildings to performance art.

Is it the superficial product of a transient superficial world? Or is it a profound rejection of the marketplace and a return to the authentic? Could it just be the art of the 21st century?

Artists, writers, and leading figures from the art world will all be contributing to the debate.

Among them will be ICA curator Charlotte Bonham-Carter, Saatchi Gallery curator Patricia Ellis, Financial Times arts correspondent Jan Dalley, Saatchi Magazine news editor Anthony Haden-Guest, Independent arts correspondent Arifa Akbar, The Art deputy editor Bruce Millar, Godfrey Barker of BBC Radio 4’s Front Row, artists Eleanor Lindsay-Fynn, Massimo Bart-olini and Richard Wentworth and Julian Spalding, former director of Glasgow Art Galleries and Museums.

Evening entertainment will be provided by some of East London’s finest bands and Hay’s finest DJs.

Hereford Times readers are offered a 30 per cent discount on the price of the festival’s earlybird weekend passes, which give access to the complete festival programme: art talks and debates, live performances, music sessions and evening parties.

Call the box office on 01497 821762 and quote Hereford Times to take advantage of the offer.
