An evening of beautiful arias for a good cause

THE Courtyard will host a Gala Opera evening on Wednesday, July 1 to raise vital funds for two charities.

Proceeds will be shared between the local branch of the British Red Cross and The Courtyard’s own work in the community.

The event promises an evening of beautiful arias and ensembles from some of the best-loved operas performed by a cast of highly experienced professional singers.

Baritone Roger Langford has been a professional singer for 25 years, working extensively in theatrical and concert environments in the UK and internationally. He now lives in Hereford where he continues his career as a singer, teacher and conductor.

Roger will be joined by Yvonne Patrick (soprano), Rose Bellingham (mezzo), Robert Carlin (tenor) and pianist Stewart Taylor.

Yvonne Patrick began her professional career with D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, going on to perform with Opera North and Welsh National Opera.

Rose Bellingham began as an actress and after re-training she sang for several years with Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Rose has performed regularly as a recitalist and concert soloist and is also a director of vocal group FourVoicesGold.

Robert Carlin began his career at Glydebourne and with Pavilion Opera, English Touring Opera and Garsington Opera. More recently he has appeared with ENO and become a member of the BBC Singers.

Stewart Taylor has extensive experience as piano soloist and accompanist, from recital work, through to playing in a jazz band. An electronic engineer by profession, he has worked for the BBC, and is now organist and choirmaster at Holy Trinity Church, Hereford. He is increasingly in demand as a piano accompanist.

Tickets are £20. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk.
