One of folk's best-kept secrets

LAST year an album called Dragonfly by singer-songwriter Reg Meuross was released to wide critical acclaim, described by Mike Harding of Radio 2’s Folk and Acoustic Club as “one of the best albums you’ll hear this or any year”.

For nearly two decades Reg’s career has included touring with Hank Wangford’s Lost Cowboys and being half of the Panic Brothers, working regularly with a range of other artists – including Jackie Oates and Phil Beer – but he is now embarking on a welcome solo career, which sees him appearing at Nightjar Folk Club at The Courtyard, Hereford, on Thursday, July 2, at 8pm.

We’ll hear the true story of Dick Turpin – Lizzie Loved a Highwayman – and an extraordinary tale from the First World War, And Jesus Wept.

Reg’s appearance at The Royal Albert Hall in March this year for the Teenage Cancer Trust’s fund-raising gig, alongside Fairport Convention, Kate Rusby and Seth Lakeman, earned him a well-deserved standing ovation.
