COMPOSED by former Hereford Cathedral head chorister, Sam Wilson, Chernobyl is a piece for brass and percussion recently released on CD.

“It was the proposal for a huge new sarcophagus over the nuclear reactor in Chernobyl that sparked the idea for this piece,” writes Sam on the cover notes.

“Ukraine, like much of Eastern Europe, has a wealth of traditional folk and contemporary music that can give many ideas to a composer. In this case, such musical influences help to recount the grim effect of the disaster while at the same time they help to show that the new protection brings hope for the future.
