Film expert’s tribute to Hereford

10:31am Thursday 2nd August 2007

A BOOK which examines the world of animated films, written by a former pupil of St Mary's RC High School in Lugwardine, is reissued this week.

James Clarke wrote the book, Animated Films, for the Virgin Books film guide series in 2003, and it is now reissued with a modified, redesigned cover.

"I think the book works best as a primer for anyone interested in some of the key animated movies made," says James, who also went to college in Hereford.

"I've tried to show that animated films aren't only for young people."

James is currently teaching film studies at the University of Sussex, having moved earlier in the year from Hereford, where he was based for many years.

"I don't think I'd be doing any of this if it weren't for the way I was taught and encouraged when I was at school and college in Hereford," says the author.

The Virgin Film Guide: Animated Films, second edition, is priced at £9.99.
