THERE really was an eclectic mix of lots on offer with something to suit everybody's taste at McCartneys most recent antique and collectables sale on June 18. A cut glass rectangular decanter with a silver collar lock for marked H&H for Hunkin and Heath realised £300, a 9 carat gold hunter pocket watch £230 and a Birmingham reticulated silver frog hat pin £140.

As always, coins were strong on the night with 1860 and later silver coins realising £70, British coinage and ten shilling notes £90, British coinage £28 and mixed coins and bank notes £25.

Objets d'art performed well on the evening with a pair of cold painted spelter figural candlesticks going under the hammer at £200, an Anglo Indian box £220, an interesting anatomical model of a male torso with exposed organs £60 and a plaster death mask £100.

A good local clearance led to the discovery of some lovely and very heavy treasures, a cast iron garden bench in the style of Val d'Osne sold to a local buyer for £650, an early Staffordshire egg crock in the form of chicken and chicks realised £40 and three pretty Bristol Blue claret decanters made £75.
