A SHROPSHIRE and Herefordshire legal practice now has more lawyers specialising in residential property than ever before, thanks to the continued recovery of the housing market.

There are now 19 members of the Lanyon Bowdler residential property team working across five offices, with Shrewsbury and Hereford seeing the biggest increase in their local teams.

New faces include the addition of Joanne Thomas who joined the Shrewsbury team in July this year, bringing the total number of staff there to five.

Loretta Ashton and Gosia Bronisz-Handley more recently created a four-strong team at Hereford when they joined the practice.

The team is currently dealing with anything from 100 to 120 property transactions each month and demand for its services continues to grow.

Partner David Foden has been head of the residential property team since 2010 and said he was proud to lead such an experienced and expanding team.

“During what can be a stressful process, I am pleased we are able to offer people who are buying and selling homes the support of a strong team with many years’ experience,” he said.

“The property market is still seeing encouraging growth, and there has been an increase in the number of people buying and selling homes in Shropshire and Herefordshire over the past two or three years. Having different teams based in the major towns across the counties helps us provide a really personal service as our staff are more accessible to our clients.”

Lanyon Bowdler also has residential property teams based in Oswestry, Ludlow and Telford.

Joanne Thomas began her career as a legal secretary more than 12 years ago, moving into the commercial property market at Hatcher’s Solicitors in 2004 before qualifying as a legal executive in 2009.

She moved to Onions and Davies in Market Drayton in 2011, working in residential property before qualifying as a solicitor in 2012, and joined Lanyon Bowdler in July this year.

Loretta Aston, who heads up the Hereford conveyancing team as an associate solicitor, graduated from Wolverhampton University with a law degree in 1998.

After working in an estate agency for four years, she worked in other regional law firms before joining Lanyon Bowdler in September 2014.

Gosia Bronisz-Handley is a bilingual English-Polish lawyer, with excellent links in the Polish community in Herefordshire.

Lanyon Bowdler is one of the largest legal firms in Shropshire and Herefordshire, with more than 200 people and 23 partners.

The residential property team specialises in all areas of residential conveyancing, whether clients are first time buyers or developers looking to invest in the housing market.
