NOT far from Hereford, there is a little piece of history waiting to be turned into a loving home. It nestles in-between an ancient chapel and a converted convent just outside of Bartestree.

The convent of Our Lady of Charity and Refuge was founded in 1863 by Robert Biddulph Phillips of Longworth and occupied a large, red-brick building by Edward Pugin. The convent closed in 1992 and after standing derelict for some years, was converted for residential use and renamed Frome Court.

The convent chapel was never converted and sits waiting to be brought back to life. With stained glass windows and detailed interior architecture including arch ways and pillars this gem will make an outstanding property full of character.

It sits between the convent itself and The Longworth Roman Catholic Chapel that was once in the care of the Historic Chapels Trust. The chapel, or parts of it, stood first at nearby Old Longworth, where it was the private chapel of a manor house. The chapel fell out of use after the reformation and the chapel was dismantled and re-erected alongside the convent at Bartestree in 1869-70.
