STUDENTS at a county high school combined their love of reading with raising money for children’s charities when they undertook the national Readathon Challenge. The pupils, in years seven, eight and nine at Fairfield High School, carried out the sponsored challenge by reading in lessons, break and at lunch times.
English teacher and event organiser, Ann Meredith, said she was 'overwhelmed' by the amount students at such a small rural school raised – more than £1,800.
