AT WEOBLEY Primary staff are proud to offer high quality teaching and learning to ensure every child reaches their potential – as recognised in a recent good Ofsted inspection.

The school has eight classrooms, library, computer suite, a multifunctional hall and a thriving morning Nursery. Outside facilities include extensive grounds, two playgrounds, an environmental pond area, trim trail, and a sports field. Breakfast club runs from 8am and the school offers a wide variety of teacher-led after school clubs.

CHILL, an independent provider, runs a nursery every afternoon on our site together with afterschool care for all ages every day until 5pm.

Forest School sessions for nursery and reception children.

Through Forest School and other environmentally-based initiatives,

The children are able to develop a lifelong love and understanding of the natural environment, whilst developing the core purposes of the Forest School ethos, namely, the development of self-esteem, confidence and social skills.

Sports fun with the stars

Earlier this year the children took part in a‘superschools’ event with two special guests: Karina Bryant (2012 Olympic bronze medalist) and Julian Golley (Olympic and Commonwealth Games Champion). By being sponsored to complete a fitness circuit, the children raised over £800.

Sports play an important part at Weobley. Children are given the opportunity to try a wide variety of sports including football, tag rugby, tennis, swimming, hockey, rounders, orienteering and circuit training. The school recognises the benefits of sports participation and the importance of young people leading a healthier, more active lifestyle.

Young Business Enterprise

Earlier this year Year 6 took part in a business project. They were given £5, and after creating their own business plan for their products, they visited Asda to buy the necessary resources. Catchy slogans for their persuasive posters were designed as well as the creation of cost-effective packaging. The most exciting stage was selling the products and counting the profit. In total, they made over £100.

Music

The sound of music is never far away at Weobley Primary. Pupils have the opportunity to learn a wide range of musical instruments. Pupils take part in the Wider Opportunity programme enabling whole class tuition in different instruments including samba drums, tin whistles, ukuleles and a wide range of brass instruments.

Children also performed in the countywide singing strategy project provided by the Herefordshire Music Service. The year six class also had the opportunity to take part in the Young Voices concerts this year, performing at one of the biggest arenas in the Country. We believe music develops interpersonal and communication skills whilst nurturing self-confidence.
