PLANS to change the status of Wyebridge Sports College to an academy have moved a step closer.

Herefordshire Council has approved an outline business case for the academy, with final permission pending from the Secretary of State.

Approval meanss £22 million in capital investment to rebuild and refurbish the site.

Cabinet members - who agreed to the case yesterday afternoon (Thursday) - want the facility to open in September, but must formally close the College on August 31 so it can re-open as an academy.
