A HEREFORDSHIRE parliamentary candidate joined demonstrators in London to march against the war in Iraq.
Felicity Norman, the Green Party candidate for Leominster, was among thousands who marched through the city and heard speeches from Tony Benn, Bruce Kent and Green MEP Caroline Lucas to mark the fifth anniversary of the start of the war.
"Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and injured in Iraq, including many of our own soldiers," said Ms Norman.
"Keeping British troops there is counterproductive as increasing numbers of the group Military Families Against the War have stressed.
"Our soldiers should be bought home and replaced, where appropriate, by a United Nations force drawn from countries not involved in the invasion.
"The occupation of Iraq is illegal - peace is only possible if we stand up for justice now."
