FORMER Aylestone School pupil Zak Evans is representing Wales this week in the Uefa Under-17 football championships.
The 16-year-old from Presteigne played in Wales' opening group match against Slovenia, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Zak made an impression in the last round.
He scored twice against Andorra and was part of the Welsh team that drew 2-2 with Spain.
Zak, an apprentice with Cardiff City, is expected to play in Wales' final match against hosts Northern Ireland on Saturday.
The group winners will progress to the finals to be held in Turkey in May.
Zak's mum, Mandy Evans, said: "Zak is excited about taking part in the tournament. Wales Under-17 have not been successful in reaching the finals of the Uefa competition, so he is pleased to be part of the squad which is facing a big challenge."
