Almeley cricket, jubilee and parish council
CRICKET - Almeley Cricket Club is celebrating its own Diamond Jubilee with a special match on June 24, between the President’s XI and the Chairman’s XI, at the home ground on Spearmarsh Common. Food and drinks will be served in the village hall from 6.30pm. The club was established in 1952 by Almeley residents John Mokler, the late Vic Goode, Stan Gates, Harry Moreland, Cyril Griffiths and Keith Wessendorf. The pavilion was erected on a site at Spearmarsh Cottage. Games have been played continuously up to 2012, with 48 playing members who compete in divisions two and five of the Marches Cricket League as well as holding Sunday friendly games. read more
