Stunning Win Over The Pace-setters.

A spectacular overhead kick by supersub Jason Davy sealed a stunning victory over league leaders Aldershot in front of Croydon's biggest crowd of the season on Saturday.

His superb 86th minute strike capped a wonderful second half performance as Croydon deservedly came from behind against much-fancied opposition.

More than 700 people gathered at the Arena for the visit of the title favourites but no one outside Croydon realistically gave the home side a chance. The early play reflected this as Aldershot dominated and created several good half chances before taking the lead through Jimmy Sugrue.

But the expected avalanche didn't materialise and Croydon held it to 1-0 at the break. Ken Jarvie's inspired half-time team talk turned things around for the Blues who responded brilliantly. The on-loan Kirk Watts (brother of Grant) went on a mazy run but saw his shot parried by Gary Phillips before Croydon drew level just before the hour. Mark Watkins turned sharply in the box and buried a low shot.

Minutes later he almost added a second when Watts again found Watkins but he headed over. With the game petering out to a draw, substitute Jason Davy fired a superb winner when he smashed in from 10 yards out.
