SIX girl guides from Girlguiding Herefordshire have just come back from a trip of a life time to the Falkland Islands for their Baden Powell Adventure. The Baden Powell Award is the highest award that a girl guide can achieve. It can take up to two years to complete and takes a lot of hard work and commitment.

Ellie, Poppy, Abi, Annabel, Rachael and Jessica with Leaders Sarah and Pam spent two weeks on the island and their adventure included visiting the South Atlantic Environmental Research Institute, Rock Pooling at Hookers Point, and camping with all the Falkland Girlguides at Johnson's Harbour.

Susan Knipe, Falkands Guide Leader said the highlight for the girls was the visit to Volunteer Point to see the penguins "They took what seemed to be a photo of every single penguin on the beach!"

They also were involved in a conservation project on Kidney Island and helped pull Tussac. The girls filled 10 bags full of Tussac roots to then replant on the Falklands at Hookers Point to help with preventing erosion.

The girls were presented with their Baden Powell awards at Government House by Alex Mithan the acting governor.
