A SUPERMARKET in Leominster where shoppers have been locked out of their vehicles when their key fobs mysteriously jam has said it is working with its neighbours to ‘resolve the problem’.

The Hereford Times reported in August how customers at Aldi on Dishley Street faced heavy fines because of an unexplained disturbance which was interfering with fobs and leaving motorists unable to get into their vehicles.

Despite mechanics finding no fault with the key fobs themselves, some customers were left locked out for several hours while others were unable to lock the doors at all.

Aldi originally said they had not been made aware of the incidents but it seems the store has now acknowledged the issue and has placed posters on its main doors.

It states: “We have been made aware that some customers have experienced problems accessing their vehicles in our car park due to jammed car key fobs.

“We’d like to reassure customers that the problem isn’t caused by anything to do with Aldi. We are liaising with our neighbours to try and resolve the problem.

“If you are affected by this and are unable to leave the car park within the maximum time allowed please make us aware by speaking to a member of store management.

“You will be able to appeal any parking charges incurred by obtaining proof of a callout from your breakdown company or locksmith.”

It has been suggested that the problem was being caused by aerials on a nearby building but this was not confirmed.

Aldi have not given an explanation for the disturbance.
