BONNIE and Clyde, the Indian Runner ducks at Radnor Valley Little Dragons playgroup surprised staff and children by secretly hatching out eight ducklings.

Bonnie had made a nest in the duck shed and staff were taking the eggs to sell because they didn’t really want any other ducks in the playgroup garden. Bonnie fooled them all, though, by secretly laying eggs in another nest in an upturned dustbin behind the shed at the far end of the duck run. The nest was only found after staff thought Bonnie had gone missing for a few days. Because they didn’t want Clyde to be left alone, they were about to catch him and take him to a place with more ducks when they realised that he kept making his way behind the shed. Bonnie was found sitting on the nest and refused to move. A short time later, one little duckling was seen by the side of the nest. This was quickly rescued and warmed up by playgroup staff. Bonnie went on to hatch eight ducklings and has proved to be a very protective mother. Homes have now been found for all eight ducklings and they will be leaving the playgroup garden soon.

The Little Dragons will holding an open day on Wednesday from 10am, when Bonnie and Clyde as well as all the other playgroup pets will be on show. There will also be an opportunity to see all the indoor and outdoor areas, toys, activities and games that children who attend the group can enjoy. Radnor Valley Little Dragons offer quality affordable childcare for children from two to 14. This includes all-day playgroup, after school and holiday club and a parent and toddler group.
