IT’S a bumper New Year’s Honours list for Herefordshire with nine awards coming the county’s way.
At the top is Oremi Evans, headteacher at Hereford’s Brookfield School, who is made a Dame
Brookfield, which takes some of the toughest teaching challenges in the county is also one of the county’s most successful schools with the consecutive “outstanding” ratings from OFSTED and national flagship status for its inclusion initiatives.
Others on the list are:
CBE
David John Bennett (Moreton on Lugg), chief executive to Sanctuary Housing Group for services to social housing. (Morton on Lugg)
OBE
Henry Richard Geers Cotterell (Byford), former president of the Country Landowners' Association, for services to the rural community and to charity.
Robert John Maskrey (Norton Canon), for voluntary and charitable services to the arts and the community in Wales and Herefordshire. MBE
Bryan Robert Casbourne (Leominster), for services to the community in Wigmore and Hereford.
Catherine Mary Meredith, Herefordshire Rural Hub Co-ordinator, for services to rural communities.
BRITISH EMPIRE MEDAL
Audrey Jean Apperley (Tillington), for services to children and young people in Tillington.
Donald Collins (Bromyard), operations field team leader with the Environment Agency, for services to the community.
Pamela Jean Smith (Leominster), volunteer at Ivington primary school, for services to Education.
